We are very excited to report that the 130 libraries in the PrairieCat consortium will update their computer system during the first week of July.
This update will launch a new, easy to use library catalog with additional features that ae believe will be very helpful. It will be easier for you to see checked out items, view holds, and renew items. You will have the ability to freeze and unfreeze holds. You will be able to enter a date if you need the item by a specific date. You will be able to "opt-in" to save your check out history. You may also opt-out but if you do, the history will be erased. You will be able to choose to receive overdue end courtesy notices via phone, email or print (a text option will be coming soon).
Two features sure to be popular are the Availability search and the Did You Mean? response. By clicking on "Availability", you can narrow your search to only items currently on shelf. "Did You Mean?" attempts to match misspelled titles or authors possible matches. You will not be able to place holds from June 30 to July 6. The PrairieCat System will not be operating on July 2 & 3 until the changeover has been completed. You will, however, still be able to check out, but not renew materials or pay fines. The catalog will be available but status information may not be accurate during the changeover.
Thanks for your patience! We hope you find the change well Worth the temporary inconvenience!
