The Manhattan-Elwood Public Library is teaming up with the Manhattan Police Department to help the youth in our community learn about safety – online and in person. This event includes safety tips, conversation starters, and engaging activities. This will be a great way to open the communication with your kids about this subject!
Take 25 will take place at the library on Friday, May 25, 2012 from 3:30-4:30pm
Mark your calendars! Come out to the library on May 5, 2012 from 2-5pm for an afternoon of pampering, shopping, and fun! This is a day for moms, daughters, grandmas, aunts, sister, and friends to come out and enjoy themselves. We will have crafts for the younger girls, manicures and makeup for the older girls, and shopping for everyone. Some vendors include: Avon, Mary Kay, Scentsy, Velata (Scentsy fondue), Uppercase Living, homemade crafts, and more. This should be a wonderful day for bonding with the women!
We are taking orders for a really cool t-shirt until April 30. The t-shirts will be $10, with an extra $1.60 charge for 2XL and 3XL sizes. We have adult and kids sizes available. All proceeds will be donated to our Building Fund. Stop on by and place your order today!
Children's Department Update
An air quality assessment will be performed during the week of April 2nd to determine the source and type of recurring air quality issues in the Children's Department. We hope to have the results back during the week of April 9th. The Department will remain closed to the public until the problems have been resolved. If there is something that you need, staff will be available to retrieve the items for you. Thank you for your patience during this challenging time.
The library is hosting our annual Easter Egg Hunt on March 31st from 10am-12pm. Bring your family and friends and come out to join in the fun! We have several different crafts to do and an unbeatable hunt with fantastic prizes for kids of all ages. Please register today!
Join us for a night out of the house. Grab the current craft you are working on and head to the library to socialize with other crafters and pick up some new ideas. Need help with scrapbooking, knitting, or any other crafts? Come on by, there may be someone to help you out with it! Manhattan-Elwood Public Library hosts Crafters' Night Out every third Friday of the month from 6pm-10pm. Please drop on in during those hours on March 16th and bring your friends.
PLEASE HELP LIAM THE LEPRECHAUN FIND HIS TREASURE!
Liam the Leprechaun has been busily preparing for St. Patrick’s Day. He has been collecting toys and candy to share with his friends and has been keeping them safe by hiding them in the library. He wrote a list of seven clues so he could find his stash later but he needs our help to figure them out. Each clue will lead to the next and the seventh clue will tell where he is keeping his treasure which he will then share with his new friends.
After our scavenger hunt, join us in making a fun and festive craft to bring home before leaving to take part in the town celebration, starting with the St. Pat's Parade.
