I was saddened to hear of author Amy Krouse Rosenthal’s death this month. She was a humorous author of adult and children’s books. Working in the children’s department, I was aware and appreciative of humorous books like Little Pea and Little Hoot and inspirational books like The Wonder Book and even Uni the Unicorn which has a sweet message about the importance of imagination and staying childlike as long as possible. Her kids books are clever, unique, and often funny. In 2010, her book Duck! Rabbit! was read at the White House for their Easter Celebration. Her adult books are a celebration of the glimpses of magic in our everyday lives. I believe all Amy’s books are special, and although her life was all too brief (she was only 51) – I like to think that her books will live on and entertain children and adults alike for many many years to come. As for the author, herself, she certainly will be missed.
You can find MANY of her works on our shelves or through the library system.
