Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library Arrives in Will County!

Dolly Parton's Imagination Library Logo We’re thrilled to share that Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library is now available to families across Will County! This beloved early literacy program mails free, high-quality books to children from birth until their fifth birthday—no strings attached.

Founded by Dolly Parton in 1995, the Imagination Library was inspired by her father’s inability to read and her dream to help children fall in love with books. Since then, the program has gifted over 200 million books worldwide, and now it’s bringing the joy of reading to our own community.

Thanks to the partnership between Will County Executive Jennifer Bertino-Tarrant and the Will County Economic Development Foundation, more than 39,000 children in our county are eligible to receive a new book each month—handpicked by literacy experts and tailored to their age and development.

Why It Matters

Research shows that children who participate in the Imagination Library demonstrate a 29% increase in kindergarten readiness. These books aren’t just stories—they’re stepping stones to a lifetime of learning, imagination, and confidence.
